Frequently we are asked "can i add rental history to my credit report"? In short, not easily.
Rental history can be added to your by your landlord, however for most landlords, they do not add it to your credit history unless you've defaulted.
So if your landlord does not furnish the data to the credit bureau, can you? Well you can, typically credit bureaus will accept a payment history (proof of each payment) and a letter from the furnisher, and for a fee some bureaus will add it to your report.
Don't be discouraged if you can't get it on your credit report. Some lenders will allow you to add it to your application, as is the case with most mortgage companies.
So don't default on your rental agreement! Otherwise it will most likely be reported negatively to a credit bureau. |
